The couple chose New Westminster as the initial site of their business in 1975 and the next year they added a sec- ond outlet in West Vancouver. Since then they have also opened a third agency in Whistler. This year the company is celebrating 20 years on the North Shore as one of the area’s longest-standing inde- pendent agencies. They are part of the Giants Consortium with over 750 agencies nation- wide. “The reason we're still here is because of the personalized service we offer,” says Donna Rose, president and general manager. Roseway Travel offers a full range of services in the busi- ness, leisure and cruise cate- gories with agents working as consultants within their cho- sen specialties, For example the corporate sector is primar- ily handled by consultants Karen Glazer, Julie Walsh and Mary Kay Evans. Senior consultant Bev Bailey enjoys the challenges of leisure travel planning. A lor of time and research goes into the plotting of a successful vacation. Clients expect agents to know the what/when/where/why and how of everything — the tricky part is making it all look easy. Among the trends this year Bailey notes that adventure travel is particulalry popular as well as specialized holidays and all-inclusive pacckages. Costa Rica continues to be a popular destination but interest in the region has widened to include . places such as Belize and Honduras. The company receives busi- ness from many repeat cus- tomers notes sales and market- ing manager Karen Blyth. To acknowledge this support Roseway Travel held an Extravaganza Weck during co. celebrates on N. Shore September and awarded a two-night getaway to Fairmont Hot Springs via Cypress. Airlines as a grand prize to Pat Scarlett. The lucrative cruise market is handled through a division of Roseway called Cruise Masters. This was set up abow: five years ago to give thet aspect of the industry special attention. Some agencies cater sulely to the cruise market and its seemingly endless growth potential but Roseway found it advantageous to add a sepa- rate wing within the already established company. While they -celebrate past accomplishments the cruise market has also given them the key to the future of travel. At least the immediate furure. "Wake up and smell tue coffee in the 21st century.
