She has never had to deal with finances before, and she is finding it very confusing even though they only had their pensions as income. My job takes me out of town a fot and J really don’t have time to offer help. My mother is disabled and she can’t afford an accoun- tant. Is there anyone else who can help her? Answer: Trained volunteers at North Shore Community Services previde an income tax preparation service for seniors, people with disabilities and others with limited income. Volunteers will make home visits for people who are unable to come to the office for medical reasons. To make an ap- pointment call 985-7138. Volunteers have all had years of experience in tax preparation and take Revenue Canada _ training each year to keep up-to-date with tax changes. Watch for the TI special, hidden in the middle of the General Tax Guide. This form is an easy to use return designated for people with straightforward tax situations, but this is the first time it has been included with the General Return. A tax return must be filed to take advantage of the Federal Sales Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit and the Goods and Services Tax Credit. You can file returns for 1988, 1989 and 1990. You may receive credits for ali three years if your taxable income is below a certain level and you meet the other eligibility criteria.
