School teens work against violence NORTH Shore teenagers are networking against violence. About 20 high school representatives meet monthly as part of the North Shore Youth Together Against Violence Network. “The aim is for young people to take a stand against crime and violence by working, on prevention projects,” said Keith Ramzan, regional youth coordina- tor who works for the Attorney General’s community justice branch. The North Shore high schoo) network is part of a province-wide initiative called Youth Action Teams. Ramzan said that upcoming youth network events include violence preven- tion presentations by Carson Graham students to elementary schools. - A Youth Against Viclence walk for Youth Week in May is tentatively planned. Ramzan said Saint Thomas Aquinas high school students recently completed a purple ribbon campaign as part of violence awareness. The network is a branch of the adult Together Against Violence group. Funding for the network comes from the province, North Vancouver City and District. The North Van RCMP support the network through the school liaison pro- gram.
