tensive and complex measures to
control debris torrents along the
Squamish Highway are vital to the
Lions Bay area.

John Reynolds, recently announc-
ed that a $5.6 million contract has
been awarded to Jaemar Construc-
tion of Surrey to reconstruct the
Alberta Creek Channel on the
Squamish Highway.

Fraser said the complex design
that has gone into the Alberta

and railway structures.”

Reynolds welcomed the news of
the last of four contracts to control
the mud slides.

“The designs and planning have
been pretty thorough and once it is
completed I don’t think we'll see
any more problems like we had in
the early 1980s."*

The four projects in the Lions
Bay area cover Magnesia Creek,
Harvey Creek, Charles Creek,
Newman Creek, and now Alberta
Creek.
