PTT “NORTH VANCOUVER CITY COUNCIL Developers get month to improve townhouse A PUBLIC hearing on a proposed townhouse development in central Lonsdale. will resume in a month to give the developers a chance to address nearby residents’ con- cerns, and possibly extend their plans to include adjacent lots. By Stephen Wisenthal Contributing Writer North Vancouver City Council heard Monday night that a nine- unit development’ was proposed for two of five lots at the northe- ast corner of West 18th Street and Chesterfield Avenue, leaving three smaller lots along 18th to be de- veloped separately. Neighbors and the owners of the three lots said they would prefer that the whole area be de- veloped at ance. The. neighbors were primarily cencerned with the plan to have parking access for 18 cars on the lane, which would increase traffic. Brent North, speaking for a number of ncighbors, said many units have bedrooms facing the lane, and several residents have their front doors dircetly aff the lane, He snid it would be better if the parking entrance was off Chester- field or, if the three corner lots were included, of f 18th. “This lane is quite friendly; it's pedestrian-oriented, The current neighborhood character is of f- “Street access, not off-lane,”? said North, ‘Architect Egil Lyngen, speaking for Bear Developments, said the parking, access had been put on the lane because of a city policy to discourage driveways onto busy streets such as Chesterfield. The public hearing will resume on April 26. 2{s “Air You Save BIG Downdraft Electric Grill-Range $-136 « Downdraft Ventilation 4° Black * Self Craning “Col elements, R ¢ Barbeque gril “Anat ay White at additional cost nowy *1699 . fess $100. rebate) § [4] COLONY HOME FURNISHINGS 1075 Roosevelt Crescent North Vancouver {2 blocks behind the Avalon Hotel) OPEN DAILY; Fri. 9-9; Sun. 12-4 5 299,99 on Page * Based on Independent National Surveys current at time of Advertising Preparation ASK ABOUT OUR DEFERRED PAYMENT PLAN AND HOW YOU CAN EARN SEARS CLUB POINTS TOO!
