servative nomination in Capilano following Ron
Huntington’s announcement that he won't seek re-election.

first official candidate in the race to replace Ron

Huntington.
Mary Collins, a West
Vancouver resident and a

member of Brian Mulroney’s
Nauonal Policy Committee,
has announced she will seek
the party’s backing at its
nominating meeting in June.

Huntington announced
last month that he will not
seek re-election when the
federal government calls tts
next election, likely this tall.

Collins, 44, was born in
Vancouver, the daughter of
Fred and Isabel Wilkins who
have lived in West Van for
more than 20 years.

After two years at UBC,
Collins graduated from
Queen’s University in On-

tanio with a BA in political
science.

She worked in government
and the private sector in
Ontario and Alberta, before
returning to B.C. in 1982.

Collins has held executive
posiuons with the Ontario
government, has owned and
managed her own com-
munications and publishing
business and most recently
was duector of public affairs
for Brinco Ltd.
