Sunset Point is a cluster of

homes overlooking Howe

islands. It also offered
privacy and a country fecling
and is still quite close to the
city..

Sound not too far from
Horseshoe Bay. Among
them is the home of Stephen
Clark and Diana Millen.
Stephen is an artist and
teacher who likes to design

A very unusual house, it
has sloping walls, lots of
open space, a glass-enclosed
Staircase, a “floating”
bedroom, and many other
interesting features.

It took four months to
design and 3% years to build
it, Stephen doing much of
the work himself, with Diana
assisting. The extensive use
of brick inside necessitated
400 trips from the road.
Although that was quite a
task, the building of the
concrete forms for the
foundation was a “form-
workers” nightmare,” as
Stephen put it. This was due
to the rocky even ground
and the curved walls.

One interesting § con-
struction feature was the
building of double walls. In
fact, the walls are about one
foot thick, resulting in great
heat retention. In addition,
the heat situation is aided by

The “floating” bedroom

bedrooms in total.

At the entranceway to the
house, there is a unique art
gallery more or less separate
from the rest of the house.

A few steps from the main
-house is Stephen's studio
which is about 1,000 sq-ft.
and is done in a similar
architectural style.

chosen for its westerly ocean
view of the sound and the
