INTRIGUES SCIENTISTS

It is this psychic energy,
perhaps more than what he

questions, a series cf ex-
periments were set up with
Manning as the subject and
organized by Dr. George
Owen of the New Horizons
Research Foundation in
Toronto. Twenty-one
scientists of various
academic disciplines  at-
tended the seminar which
produced some exceptional
and exciting results,

The young psychic was
connected to an_  celec-
troencephalograph (EEG)
which registered a unique
reading whenever he

ee ewitched on’ his. rémarkable

mental power... The EEG:

show a configuration which
one of the investigators, Dr.
Joel Witton, termed a ‘ramp’
and which was cvaluated by
a computer to be the
equivalent of the fourth
degree of deep sleep — but
Matthew was fully awake
during all the tests.

After some twenty
seconds or so, the ramp
function ceased and the
brain wave pattern returned
to normal. Manning's ‘ramp’
pattern was unlike anything
previously recorded.

possesses the ability to
generate his own incredible
energy which in that par-
ticular test simply cancelled
out the. 35,000 volts of the
machines. Mr. J. van der
Veer, bead of the research
group, stated that in order to
duplicate what Matthew did

simply by laying his hand on -

the Kirlian machine, one
would need highly
sophisticated electronic
equipment.

NEW KIND OF ENERGY

Professor Brian
Josephson, FRS, and Nobel
Prize recipient in physics
1973, expressed the view
that... “We are on the verge
of discoveries which may be
extremely important for
physics. We are dealing here
with a new kind of energy:
this force must be subject to

much about psychic
phenomena.”

to Professor Josephson, it is
‘old hat’ to students of the
esoteric disciplines. What
we are on the verge of is a re-

COSMIC ENERGY

In a series of further
experiments with Matthew
Manning, the source of the
psychic energy was found to
be in the oldest part of the

human brain — a part which |

had previously been thought
to be defunct.

Perhaps this is the ‘secret
chamber of the brain’ about
which we read in Sanskrit
writings and which has been
brought to light again by
Pandit Gopi Krishna in his

seminar, he asked a number
of known psychics to fillin a
questionnaire. All the

surveyed psychics had “one
thing in common — they had
all suffered a severe electric
shock before the age of ten!

All except Matthew
Manning ... which seemed to
negate that speculation.
Matthew could not recall
any such accident happening
to him as a young boy. And
then, in discussing this with
the boy’s parents, a vital and
important detail came to.
light ... just three weeks
before Matthew was born,
his mother had suffered such
a severe electric shock -that
she feared she might lose the
baby!

Interesting isn’t it
“electric shocks, psychic
power, prana, child
prodigies, genius ... we can
open quite a flood gate of
fascinating speculations
following this theory.

Dr. Witton’s survey was
only on a small] scale but it
does seem to be one worth
expanding. I wonder if any

trical accident when they
were children, or before
their paranormal abilities
became evident? If so, I

Witton’s findings.
