Students from Capilano
College’s printmaking
courses are exhibiting their
prints in a comprehensive
exhibition called Capilano
College Printmakers at the
North Vancouver City Hall,
141 West 14th Street, during
April.

It is the first time that such
a student exhibition spon-
sored by the North Van-
couver Community Arts
Council has been held at the
City Hall.

Capilano College print-
making instructor and artist
Wayne Eastcott said 23
students from beginners to
advanced have their prints in
the show.

Eastcott said the prints for
the show were chosen by
class consensus as “it gives
students a chance to make
judgments about their art
rather than the instructor.”
Eastcott himself is having a
one-man show in Tokyo in
June.

The printmaking courses
at Capilano College are
aimed at bringing out cach
student’s individuality,
explains Eastcott who
established the College's
printmaking program six
years ago. As a result the
print show covers a
tremendous range in sire,
technique and colour.

Print exhibits
at City Hall

The techniques used by
the students are etching,
silkscreen, lithographs,
woodcuts, collographs,
photo-etching and photo-
silkscreen. The prints on
display can be bought from
the individual students.

The Community
Education branch of
Capilano College is offering
two short, intensive courses
in printmaking in carly May.
One is an Intensive Print-
making Workshop, and
another Appreciating and
Collecting Prints.
