Dundarave THANKS to th patrons of Capers restaurants, $9,000 has been raised tor the YWCA Food and Flowers Program. The program provides food vouchers to more than 300 single mothers and chil- dren in YWCA programs each month. Capers’ partnership: with the program involves innova-, tive in-store campaigns, such as a Holiday Giving Campaign; a Flowers for Food Campaign; a “5% Day,” in which Capers donated 5% of sales from all three loca- tion; and matching dona- tions. North Yancouver - NORTH Vancouver’s Guy Bradfield wants to be the number one fundraiser for the B.C. Lung Association’s annual bicvele trek. In what he calls “slightly more than a leisurely ride,” Bradficld has raised more than $28,000 during the six staff and years he has perticipated in the 200-ki the previous number one rider by a couple of thousand dollars. Whar does the numbe one person have that he does- n't have? Bradtield said the top money raisers have been from small interior communities that seem able to muster the kind of support he needs to put him over the top. He would like North Shore residents to help this worthy cause and show up the smaller centres in com- munity spirit and generosity. The trek begins Sept. 12 in Fort Langley and the evclists ride to Cultus Lake and back the next day. Make cheques payable to the B.C.
