WAITING in ferry
lineups is often regard-
ed as a low point in
holiday plans, but this
summer that same wait
could lead to saving
you a lot of pain —
maybe even your life —
in the event of a colli-
sion.

Members of the ICBC
Head Restraint Safety Squad
are checking head rests in cars
travelling through — the
Horseshoe Bay and
Tsawwassen ferry terminals to
make sure they are properly

adjusted to maximize their
effectiveness in the event of a
crash.

Properly adjusted head
restraints can help reduce the
risk of soft tissue injuries,
more commonly known as
whiplash.

Last year, soft tissue
injuries made up approximate-
ly 73% of overall inju i
Such injuries cost ICE
cy holders more than half a
billion dollars.

Last summer similar safety
squads delivered their message
to 45,982 people and adjust-
ed 17,083 head restraints.

In order for adjustable
