The theme of this year’s cam- paign will be local parks. In conjunction with the In- surance Corp. of B.C. (ICBC), the West Vancouver Police Department and West Vancouver parks employees will be getting the message out to iock it or lose it, West Vancouver Police Const. Jamie Gibson said the local police department currently receives reports on a regular basis from parks and other municipal employees in regard to suspicious persons or activity in progress. He added that this year the police will also receive assistance from: Park Royal security guards in promoting the program on an on-going basis in the mall “We trust that, the message will help to remind the community to remove the opportunity given to potential thieves by locking their vehicles and removing all valuables when leaving their vehi- cles unattended,’’ said Gibson. During the one-week blitz, police across B.C. wili increase enforcement and encourage the public to report suspicious activi- ties and protect themselves from theft-related automobile crimes. Police will target high risk areas ‘such as park and ride facilities, shopping malls and recreational facility parking lots.
