OPEN LETTER to the an- nuat general meeting of the Royal Canadian Legion, White Rock: Dear Comrades: This is an appeal to you to stick to your guns and not permit tur- bans to be worn in your branch; also that you pay no attention to the stupidities being dispensed by the media and the politicians, who don't give a fig if this becomes a Third World country. (Your MP, Benno Friesen, is a star in that regard, as he showed when I debated immigration with him in North Vancouver.) Contrary to what editorial writers in the Vancouver Evening Wimp say, there is nothing “racist”? in applying your rules on headgear. You are a club. Why should you have to adjust to what the minorities demand, instead of they having to adjust to you? As your man Don Alton has stated: ‘We wouldn't dare walk into Sikh temples blowing bagpipes and wearing army boots.’” Put it down as the quote of the year. This issue is greater than what happens in White Rock. Right across Canada our ways and culture are under attack, and sur- render to the demands of arrogant minerities is the order of the day. Not that one can blame them, We must blame ourselves for being spineless. Our elitists have invited the world to take us over. [ could list the immigration fig- ures, but they are an old story. It is enough to say that European immigration has been virtually abandoned by the sellouts and freaks of all political parties in Ottawa, They favor other sorts. We have never been asked whether we want that. Ottawa steers its own course even though every public opinion poll shows that Canadians abhor what is go- ing on. Nor can we excuse pro- vincial governments, including ours. Their silence makes them equally guilty. The result is that Vancouver is becoming a suburb of Asia; Toronto, once the Queen City of English Canada, has become a Tower of Babel, with every race except ours bawling for special righis and getting them; Montreal is a target for the enlightened folk of Haiti. And the politicians wouldn't care if voodooism became the leading religion. All this is taking place in de- fiance of the public will. Democracy? If by that is meant acting on public opinion, it's Alderman protests leasing of home to arts council THE WEST Vancouver Community Arts Council got its new home Monday night, but not without some last-minute squabbling be- tween local aldermen. By Maureen Curtis Contributing Writer West Vancouver Ald. Andy Danyliu protested the decision to lease the arts council. one of the Argyle Avenue waterfront houses purchased by the municipality for park purposes. ‘We've spent millions of dollars so that these homes can be used as clubhouses,’’ said Danyliu. Several of the many waterfront properties acquired by the municipality along the seawalk route have been set aside for the use of community arts groups which lack facilities and face a long wait for a future arts centre. Some of the other houses have been demolished to expand park space; others still contain residen- tia! tenants. Ald. Pat Boname said that Danyliu’s use of the word ‘‘mil- lions’” was misleading because none of the homes that have been put to community arts use were million-dollar properties when they were purchased. “l have never misled anyone,’’ said Danyliu, who argued that council had been misled, months back, into believing that the renovations undertaken by the eof ae BILTFOR’S a WEST VANCOUVER DISTRICT COUNCIL municipality would cost about $10,000. The municipality’s parks direc- tor confirmed that the renovations actually cost about $56,000, with about half of that amount being provided by the Community Arts Council through fundraising activ- ities. Ald. Rod Day also pointed out that the house being leased to the arts council for $1 per year, otherwise known as ‘‘The Silk Purse," has some architectural merit that was a factor in its being saved. The arts council wili have the second floor of the house for of- fice use, while the main floor will be used jointly by the council and the municipality as a meeting and display area. “‘Park doesn’t necessarily mean empty space,”’ said Ald. Boname. Despite the debate, the vote on the lease to the arts council was unanimous, even though former alderman Carol Ann Reynolds also questioned the procedure that . had been followed. She noted that the arts council had not yet seen the lease that council was voting on. But according to Ald. Diana Hutchinson, the lease had already been approved and signed by the arts council’s executive and board of directors. “They had the authority to ap- prove the lease. They represent the arts council,’’ said Hutchinson. The lessons of ethnic strife are writ large across the world. [1 is leading to the collapse of the USSR, Yugoslavia, Pecbanon and Riany other countries. Because of mass immigration that people didn't want, France and Britain are scenes of bit- terness. We are on the same road here, as your own exnerience shows. But our politicians, media and academics play the role of the three monkeys. SAVE Weanesday. September 11, 1991 - North Shore News ~ 9 Time to defend Canadian culture The simple truth is that people wish to live with and be governed by their own kind. That applies nationally, to the Legion, and to all other associations, including the ethnic ones, A word about the Sikhs. Most of them are fine people. They fought well in the wars. Sikhs have won the Victoria Cross (which, not so incidentally, has been wiped from the Canadian list of honors. Anything to diminish the Anglo connection). It is not true, by the way, that the turban is supreme with the Sikhs. {n battle they wore steel helmets, just like the rest of us. It is true, though, ihat Sikhs are far more intolerant than we are where issues of religion and race are concerned, How much tolerance is shown in the Punjab? How much tolerance are Sikhs showing in B.C.? The province is an international headquarters for Sikh terrorism. And Sikhs are in- clined to shoot their newspaper editors when those editors don't agree with the aims of Khalistan (he Land of the Pure!) SHAKLEE 922-1083 Ask the editor of the Cana- dian-Indo Times, himself a casu- alty. Meanwhile, the World Sikh Organization is mounting a na- tional campaign to force you and other Legion branches to bend to its will. That's multicult for you. Well, you can be sure the lickspit- tle politicians will back them. So will the human rights groups. That's why they are there. But it is my hope that you will not sur- render.
