GVRD Park’s staff will be on hand to conduct camp tours, show slides and answer questions. Refreshments will be available. Visitors will be able to preview the camp’s new Environmental Education Handbook and find out about hands-on creative en- vironmental programs. A heated swimming pool, rustic common room with fireplace, chattering squirrels and campfire pit, all in a majectic Douglas-fir setting, are just some of the camp’s appealing features. Camp Capilano experiences are available for one- to five-day ses- sions during the week and are suit- able for children with disabilities. To get to the camp from the Upper Levels Highway, take the Capilano Road/Grouse Mountain exit and drive north to the Fish Hatchery/Camp Capilano turnoff. Hume discussed UBC PROFESSOR Ian Ross will be speaking about Scottish philos- opher and diplomat David Hume Oct. 18 as part of a lecture series exploring the history and culture of Scotland. Thc series, presented by the B.C, Pipers’ Association, promises to provide an international perspec- tive on various Scottish subjects. Ross is currently writing a book on Hume. Hume, a participant in the negotiations of the 1763 Treaty of Paris, was one of the world’s most influential philosophers. The lecture is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson St., in Vancouver. Money raised by the lecture series will heip assist B.C. pipers com- peting around the world.
