North Store News Locai skeet club lease extended THE NORTH Shore Skeet Club has been given a five-year lease to continue outdoor shooting in the lower Seymour Demonstration Forest, but members of the Pacific Shooters Association are angry that North Vancouver District Coun- cil has put off a decision to renew their lease pending results of noise tests. “They (council) seem to keep coming up with different ques- tions. We can’t get a definite answer from them," said Bruce Howard, vice-president of the Pacific Shooters. Association (PSA). Howard and other members of the PSA say without a 15-year lease, it will not be feasible for ‘the organization to spend $100,000 on an expanded range at its proposed interim site in the lower Seymour Valley next to the Skeet Club. And the group “insists that noise tests - will show that ‘shooting does not pose a sound’. problem: for residents. 7 But Ald. Murray Dykeman said that approving the association's lease would be “putting a sound hazard in an area we’ re (council is) planning to populate." ‘Council agreed in _ principle Monday to cut a‘I5-year tease re- quest by the Skeet Club to five - years ‘subject ‘to the setting of specific operating hours, | after receiving complaints of noise by some residents. : - Council would not approve a. ; Similar. ‘15-year lease request by the iy EVELYN JACOB Contributing Writer .
