Don’t neglect your
pet’s dentai needs

PET OWNERS have daily dental care needs, but can
easily negiect the dental care of their furry friends.

Feeding a good quality, balanced, nutritious diet is
important to ensure that our friends receive the
nutrients their bodies need to have healthy gums,
tecth, jaws and muscles. Your vetbrinarian and the
Canadian Veterinary Medical Association pet food
seal of certification will recommend good pet foods.

The form the food comes in is important too, Dry
foods have more of an abrasive, brushing action on
the gums and teeth than do moist or semi-moist
(pouched) foods. Dogs may even enjoy raw carrots or
celery sticks of rawhide chews to brush their teeth
with, That helps to break up plaque before it hardens
to form tastar, which is rough and irritating to the
gums, making them red, swollen and sore,

Pet friends can be helped with a thorough dental
hygiene appointment, It should consist of scaling, and
polishing and will be necessary at least every two to
three years. Some pets let their people brush their
teeth daily or twice weekly.

Not only will your dog or cat's breath smell a whole
lot nicer, but his/her whole body will be healthier!
Gum infections affect overall well-being as well as
heart, kidneys and haircoat sheen.

By looking at your pet's teeth and gums regularly,
feeding them a good quality dry food and having reg-
ular dental hygiene appointments, you can help them
live longer and stronger.
