Equipment to improve
Whistler ski conditions

WHISTLER MOUNTAIN Ski
Corporation and Blackcomb Ski-
ing Enterprises will receive a total
of $3.2 iillion in low interest
loans under the Canada-British
Columbia Tourist Industry
Development Subsidiary Agrec-
ment toward the cost of installing
snowmaking equipment.

The $4.5 million snowmaking
installation will result in con-
tinuous snow cover on the bottom
of Whistler and Blackcomb moun-
tains, guarantecing direct access

from the ski slopes to the village
centre throughout the season,

This ability to provide good
snow cover throughout the ski
season is expected to resolve the
current difficulty in attracting in-
ternational ski tourists in the pre-
Christmas period.

The ski season can now be ex-
tended by 4-6 weeks, attracting an
additional 90,000 annual skier
visits and $13.5 million in skier
expenditures as a result of this new
installation,
