Following weekend action six more teams were eliminated from the tour- nament. One of the favorites, Carlings, was knocked out of the final round when they were defeated 2-0 by Old Timers, the league cham- pions. In the opening round over the weekend, Old Timers downed Lynn Valley 3-1, Time Outs’ climinated Grassies with a 1-0 win, Eagle Harbour went to the sidelines following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Olympics, as did Molsons who lost 3-2 to Goldcaps. In the second round of games, Goldcaps ousted Olympics 41, Time Out wrote the end to Lynn Valley with a 5-1 triumph and Old Timers downed Carlings 1-0. In the semi-final to be played next Saturday at 9 a.m. <,at Inter’ River, Goldcaps will take on Time Out for the right to go up against Old Timers the following weekend for the championship. W. Van Royals and Rovers advance A 3-2 exhibition win over Sons of Norway acted as a tune up for West Van Rovers semi final match in the second division soccer tournament. Rovers will take on Norvan in an all North Shore semi-final on Sunday, 2 p.m. at Kinsmen Stadium. Rovers picked up goals from Tommy Carter, Brian Rothwell and Dave Stonley in picking up the cleanly played exhibition game. In fourth division action West Vancouver Royals will advance to the finals against Cliff Avenue as a result of penalty kicks after a 1-1 regulation draw. In the first round of five kicks both teams scored three times, each team then supplied five different players for a round of sudden death penalty shots. Dutch Lions missed on their first shot and Royals goalie and overtime Dave Power made the save on the next two, Dutch Lions goalie, George Ramsey made good saves on the Royals first two shots but Ian Montgomery scored the winning goal with the third shot putting the ball low in the corner of the net.
