As hopeless as the situation appears to those who take their politics seriously, John Motiuk has a solutioa. Check that, Motiuk says he is the solution. Miortiuk, 57, bas founded the North Vancouver-based British Columbia Party and says he wants to form the province's next government. The diminutive Motiuk showcases a blustery approach that to date hasn't sparked a flash-tlood of grassroots support. The newly formed party boasts between 50 and 100 members, a number sure to grow, according to Motiuk. “I'm told Pm a Diefenbaker clone by my supporters. I’m a populist,” said Modiuk. “I don’c have a (exact membder- ship) count because every week people are out there bringing people in. The 80-vear-old West Vancouver resident had medical problems, bur felt well enough that morning to do some food shopping in the Marks and Spencer store in Park Roval’s south mall. The next thing she knew ske was in a cloud of pepper spray and abou to collapse. Moments before, three robbers wearing gas masks smashed glass cases and stole jewelry from) Lugaro Jewellers, Handguns were brandished by the thieves, who sprayed about five store staff members with pepper spray. During their getaway, the robbers spraved a path of the chemical in the mall. No one has been charged with the robbery, and the West Vancouver Police continue to investigate the incident.
