» Van fire department offers
more than just fire protection

DISTRICT OF North Vancouver Fire Services wants the
community to know that its fire department offers more

services than many people realize.

Of course, we stiil fight fires,
but we also provide emergency
response to: rescues (canyon,
water, etc.), inhalator and first aid
(heart attacks, shortness of
breath, bleeding, burns, accidents,
etc.), motor vehicle accidents,
electrical hazards (downed power
lines, shorting, etc.), floods
(rescue and control), and hazard-
ous material incidents (leaks/
spills).

Non emergency services include

UBC botanical gardens
host plant sale Sunday

IT’S SPRING again and the UBC
Botanical Garden is hosting its
third annual perennial plant sale.

Garden volunteers have careful-
ly nurtured nearly 12,000 plants,
and all will be for sale on Sunday,
May 16, from 10 a.m. until 4
p.m. at the garden, 6804
Southwest Marine Dr.

Most of the plants are divisions
or seedlings fron the Garden.

Others are from members’ own
gardens.

Admission to the garden will be
free with a plant purchase, and
refreshments will be available.

Garden advice wil! be plentiful
and the Shop in the Garden will
be open and full of books, tools,
dried flowers, and gifts.
