ABOUR Landing FREE INITIAL Armed robber jailed 7 years THE MAN who robbed the liquor store at Wesiview Shopping Centre in June of 1988 was recently sentenced to a total of seven years in jail. Eric Joseph Bigger, 24, of Britannia Beach, received five years for the robbery and an additional two years for using a firearm — namely a sawed off shotgun — in the commission of the offence. Bigger was assisted in the robbery by an as yet unidentified ac- complice. W. Van man jailed for theft A 20-YEAR-OLi West Vancouver man was sentenced June 29 in West Vancouver provincial court to five days in jail after he was found guilty of theft under $1,000. William Sager was originally charged in connection with a Dec. 26, 1988 incident in which money was stolen from a female. W. No further job cuts planned NEW VERSATILE Pacific Shipyards Inc. chairman Peter Quinn said Thorsday the company has no current plans to cut any more of Versatile’s management personnel. Of the four consecutive bids for the job, Hanlon offered the Jowest, at $368,000. The highest bid was $433,000. “This is going to be a real jewe! in the recreational complex of West Vancouver,’’ Mayor Don Lanskail predicted. The work on the 170-foot exten- sion to the existing pier, which will be done from the water, will in- clude enhancement of the fishing habitat around the pier.
