Leave beach as a legacy

OPEN LETTER TO
WEST VAN COUNCIL

As long-term local residents and
users of the beach at Batchelor
Bay, we strongly oppose the
removal of the high tide access
path,

The illegal pile of ugly rip-rap
both blocks trail access and
significantly reduces the beach area
at near-high tide — the time when
swimming is most popular.

‘Best’ does not mean most

With reference to your article on
West Vancouver senior homes on
Jan. 31.

1 have lived in West Vancouver
for 50 years and my husband for
70 years.

The seniors’ home you were
reporting on sounds wonderful but
how and where does Carol
Omstead get the idea that they are
attcacting the ‘‘best’’ of West
Van’s ‘taging community’ or all
the ‘‘well-known" families.

Does the fact that they are able
to pay a minimum of $2,000 a
month rant make them = the
“best’'?

Carol Omstead should choose
her words more carefully.

once the finest in the area, is no
longer useable due to pollution by
boat traffic.

Ganow Bay, another historicaly
popular beach, has no reasonable
access.

Copper Cove beach was only
saved from an illegal rock dump
by stiff local opposition.

The beach at Batchelor Bay was
in existence before any of us were
born. Let us leave it as a legacy for
gencrations to come.
