AS - Sunday, January 15,1984, - North Shore News = WC SEEK RAS ERNE SO SN EIGHTY-SIX RESIDENTS of the Marlborough Tower in North Vancouver are petitioning North Vancouver City for increased police activity and a change in business hours for a nearby cabaret. By NEWS STAFF The petition, and a letter from Hollyburn Properties general manager Stephen Sander, was delivered to Mayor Jack Loucks this week. In the letter Sander says residents of the 14th Street apartment are continuously faced with problems of noise, vandalism, break-ins and mischief. , ‘Also, people are con- tinuously urinating in the parking areas, flower beds and on the doors in the lob- by,’’ Sander said in his letter. His solutions include the posting of guards by the nearby cabaret and other late-night businesses to stop property damage, parking restrictions on 14th Street, that police stay in the area throughout the evening and early morning hours and that the cabaret and other businesses in the area be forc- ed to close at 11 p.m. Mayor Loucks said Friday the letter and the petition are the latest moves in a ‘‘recur- rent problem’’. ‘*t don’t know if all the statements in the letter are necessarily true or if the solu- tions he is proposing are ac- ceptable to council,’’ Loucks said. Loucks said efforts in the past to deal with the com- plaints of the apartment’s owners have included recom- mendations from the police that the owners have not acted on. ‘*We’H go back and have another review of the situa- tion and respond to his con- cerns,’’ said Loucks. According to the mayor, the petition will be presented to council and reports will be requested from staff and police.
