Theft suspects trigger

TWO PEOPLE ‘suspected’ of shoplifting at
Park Royal shopping centre's south. mall
“Monday led West Vancouver Police on a car
chase on Marine Drive.

The men were confronted by a’store security offi-
cer after the pair allegedly stole some items, according
to a West Vancouver Police (WYP) spokesman, The
men ran to a waiting car, a black 1980 Oldsmobile.

Police believed the suspects had a gun at the ime.
The suspects travelled west on Marine Drive in the
eastbound lane. Oncoming cars swerved out of the

Three people in the car ran off including a 24-year-
old North Vancouver woman. ‘The driver was quickly
apprehended, said police. The woman was found in
some bushes by police dog. Rocky. The other man was
not found.

Rodney Frances Bruyere, 25, of Vancouver, faces
charges of dangerous driving and theft under $5,000 in
connection with the incident. The woman was released
without charges. Police say no gun was found,
