Agreement reached for Y’s 2 use of Inglewood facility Municipality to lease former school for 10 years AFTER lengthy negotiation, West Vancouver District Council is finalizing an agreement that allows the YMCA to continue its use of the West Vancouver School District 45’s Inglewood Centre (the former Inglewood school building). At the Nov. 9 council meeting, Mayor Mark Sager complimented councillors Pat Boname, Rod Day and Diana Hutchinson for their efforts in negotiating the agree- ment, which involves the municipality’s lease of the build- ing from the schcol district for 10 years. “*It (the agreement) has been part of our lives for six years. ’'m happy that it will remain in com- munity use, and I’m sorry that we don’t have a longer lease,’’ Boname said. Negotiations were, at times, long and difficult, but they have concluded with the municipality agreeing to lease the building for 10 years, and pay $42,000 for the first year. The YMCA will pay the fee in subsequent years, choosing how to recover that amount in whole or part from the tenants of the cen- tre. The costs of exterior grounds maintenance will be shared, with the municipality paying a one- time capital cost of $17,000, followed by an annua! operating fee of $8,500. The capital upgrading will in- clude painting and the installation of sprinklers, along with other improvements to the old building. The YMCA will conclude its own sub-agreement with the municipality.
