KLEE WYCK is situated in a spectacular parkiike setting
enclosed by tall firs and cedars on one side and the rushing

Capilano River on the other.

The land that this home was
built on was originally owned by
Edward Mahon and was purchas-
ed from him in 1925 by a
Clarence Fearnside, who built this
home.

In 1942, Dr. Ethlyn Trapp pur-
chased it, along with an early
groundskeeper’s cottage located at
the front gate of the property.

The story of Dr. Ethlyn Trapp
must be told for those in the
community who may not have
heard of this great Canadian.

Born in New Westminster in
1891, Dr. Trapp suffered an acci-
dent as a child of three that left
her lame for life, but this did not
deter her from participating in
physical activities and setting a
course throughout her life that
would eventually benefit thou-
sands of people.

She was a medical doctor, a

humanitarian,- a smedical resear-
cher and a cancer research pio-
neer,
. After graduating in medicine
from McGill University in 1927,
she took post-graduate studies in
Vienna, Berlin, Stockholm, Paris,
London and Manchester.

Dr. Trapp was the first doctor
in Vancouver to be fully trained in
radiotherapy as a treatment for
cancer.

According to the New
Westminster Columbian newspa-
per dated July 5, 1952, Dr. Trapp
was ‘‘the first woman president of

community groups for retreats,
