STRESS CONTROL THROUGHT MOVEMENT Aquatic dance comes to NV centre A COUKSE in aquatic dance and stretch instructed by Christine Elsey begins Sept. 30 in the Win- dridge Room at Ron Andrews Community Centre, This new program was developed by instructor Elsey as a result of her experience with the Pacific Motion Dance Company, which is directed by Vancouver's Janice LeBlond, who developed an underwater technique and a dance FOOTBALL technique through the course of a back injury. Since the summer of '86, Elsey has co-founded the Metropolis Dance Company with Anna Haltrecht, devising choreography based on the Feldenkrais method, a therapeutic technique that achieves healing through move- ment, Elsey has worked extensively with Haltrecht using Feldenkrais movement for the past three years, Argos tame Mustangs THE NORTH Shore Bantam Argos won their home opener at Eldon Park Sept. 13 with a 27-0 win over the Langley Mustangs. Elsey recently returned from New York where she took classes in release technique, a method of stress control through movement. This course of aquatic dance and stretch offers a unique combina- tiun of dance and swim. Stretching and alignment work is done on land in preparatioy for slow fluid underwater movements learned in the shallow end of the pool. Participants should wear bathing suits and light sweats or cemfor- table clothes. Goggles and nose plugs are recommended as well. The course is suitable for men and wornen of all ages who are in- terested in this aquatic exercise adventure.
