Man killed at Lynnterm A 61-YEAR-OLD Vancouver jongshoreman was killed carly Saturday morning at North Vancouver's Lynnterm bulk loading Facility after being struck by a forklift driven by a fellow worker. Joseph Straiton was declared dead at the dock following the ac- cident which occurred at about 12:50 a.m. Parts Canada Police Insp. Robert Sharp said investigations into the incident are continuing, but no charges were being con- templated. Mien jailed for store B&E TWO LOWER Mainland men were sentenced to two months in jail Jan. 26 after they pleaded guilty to breaking into a Deep Cove li- quor store. Jotn Dieudonne Langer and Benjamin Cornelis Liket, both 22, were charged with break and enter and possession of stolen prop- erty following 3 Jan. 11 police seizure of a 1981 pick-up truck and five cases of Splitz wine cooler. Appearing before Judge J.K. Shaw, the two pleaded guilty to the break and enter charge. The Crown subsequently entered a stay of proceedings on the possession of stolen property charge. A stay of proceedings was also entered in a charge of mischief that was laid against ihe two in connection with an Oct. 5 incident in which a window was allegedly damaged. ICBC forgery nets jail term A 27-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced to a day in jail and fined $500 Jan. 27 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of uttering a forged documeiit. Appearing in North Vancouver provincial court before -Judge J.D, Layton, James Rory Donald faced the charge in connection with the March 1 forgery of an ICBC insurance renewal form. A NVCFD spokesman said 32 people attended the three-hour course, entitled Fire: Who Will Survive? at Carson Graham School. The department will repeat the course, which includes 9 discus~ sion on how to survive in an emergency situation, May 5.
