IT WAS a jam-packed
party at Roy Lisogar’s
Century Plaza Hotel last
week as the Lisogar family
hosted their sixth annual
Century Plaza Media
Ladies’ Golf Classic dinner,
auction and awards pres-
entation.

The tourney itself was held at
Richmond’s Mylora Golf Course
in perfect golfing weather.

Following the game, the 130
female swingers retired to the
hotel ballroom for an evening of
fun and frivolity.

Nice surprise to see CBC Even-
ing News anchor Gloria
Macarenko, looking radiant in
red,

Gloria gave birth one month
ago to a darling baby son and this
was her first night out...

BCTV’s Pamela Martin, a vi-
sion in a lemon-colored shorts
suit, showed off great legs, while
pretty Jenifer Mather looked
marvellous in an all-black pant
suit by Jax.

The media’s Sean Webster and
Sherry Cooper shared a table with

West Van's Andy Danyliu again
stole the show as one of the
evening's funniest guest auc-
tioneers...

Good to see the almost-
drowned Canuck vice-president
Glenn Ringdal looking so healthy,
as were those good old guys like
Annis Stukus, Wellington Lee,
Grey Douglas, Terry Sklavenitis,
Gordy Weber, Carlos Hampe,
Frank Gilliotti, Alex MacGillivray
and Neil MacRae.

The highly acclaimed a cappella
group The Nylons were also a
great success and deserved their
standing ovation.

They not only entertained at the
dinner, they also did some celeb-
tity caddying.

They were off to Prince Rupert
the next day for a one-night con-
cert and then they’ll be packing
their bags for a tour to Japan, to
Korea for the World’s Fair, and
then to the Land of Oz,
Australia...

But the icing on the cake for
Wendy Lisogar and her crew was
the surprise appearance of
“Oscar,” Hollywood’s Jack
Klugman! ,

Jack’s in town shooting the new
TV movie The Odd Couple with
his old pal, Tony Randall.

Jack immediately got right up
on stage and started trading
wisecracks with emcee Phil
Reimer, mostly about the action at
Jack’s favorite place in Van-
couver, Exhibition Park.

He’s a pony freak and a very

special treat!...

Even Prime Minister Kim
Campbell sent her best wishes and
congratulations on a successful
tournament.

The other surprise guest at the
dinner was Joe Average, who was
making his first public appearance
in two months...

The only person who wasn’t
feeling up to scratch was U.TV’s
promotions director, Diane
Johnson,

Diane was chewing on a piece
of roast beef when her newly
crowned molar popped off! She
was to depart on her vacation to
San Francisco at 6 a.m. the very
next day!

As I was leaving, the cry went
out: ‘Is there a dentist in the
house?”’..,

The good news is that the tour-
nament raised $59,400 for the
Zajac Foundation...

Celebrity guest at the official
kick-off of Sea Festival '93 ata
ceremony last Thursday at the
Plaza of Nations, besides Lance
Karrison and his band and Harvey
Rourke as Captain Vancouver,
was Hollywood actor Jim Varney,
alias Ernest.

Jim’s been here for the past
seven weeks shooting his two new
Ernest movies. He’s very thin, very
quiet and has nice soft eyes!...

Canadian cast album of Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat, as well as their hands,
arms, jackets, old albums and
posters, and even an ancient
photograph that showed Donny
making his first onstage appear-
ance in Canada.

about seven years old. He hardly
