WV case involves alleged assault of babysitter THREE BROTHERS. two of whom currently - live in West Vancouver, were arrested on Jan. 12 and charged for the alleged sexual assault of a babysitter between 1987 and 1991. By Anna Marie D'Angelo News Reporter The babysitter, a West Vancouver resident, was 11 to 16 years of age during the period she was allegedly sex- ually assaulted at a home in West Vancouver. One of the alleged incidents occurred “on route to Kelowna,” according to West Vancouver Police Det. Jim Almas. | j “Frederick Evanshen, 54, of West Vancouver, is charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of obstructing justice in connection with the incidents, His younger brother, Franklin Evanshen, 46, of West Vancouver, is charged with two counts'of sexual assault and one count of obstructing justice. A third brother, Perry Evanshen, 34, who lives in- Claresholm, Alberta, is charged with one count of sexu- al assault. The complainant, now 19 years old, worked for one of the brothers during the five-year period when she was allegedly sexually assaulted. The obstruction charges stem from a police ‘nvesti- gation of a 1990 sexual assault involving the same com- plainant. Frederick Evanshen and Franklin Evanshen were arrested by West Vancouver Police. They were released on a court-issued recognizance with conditions. The conditions include: @ no contact with the complainant, (@ they are not to be in the presence of any person under the age of 16 unless in the company of another adult. The accompanying adult cannot be one of the accused, according to the recognizance. Frederick Evanshen and Franklin Evanshen are scheduled to appear in West Vancouver provincial court on Jan, 26. Perry Evanshen was arrested in Claresholm, Alberta, and was in custody to press time. He is slated to be transferred to West Vancouver [or court proceedings. ane search st ‘valuable.
