Government Employees Union members has closed liquor stores, motor vehicle branches and other public service agencies. As well, such facilities as courts, Ministry of Transpor- tation and Highways work- yards, land registry services and Human Resources of. fices have been closed or ringed with pickets that are hampering operations. To press time Tuesday there was little reaction to the walkout and the uncertainty about future action by public employee labor groups Negotiations between the government and the BCGEU are continuing despite the walkout but reports indicate the two sides are sull far apart on the terms of a new agreement. The next move in the strike appears up to the provincial government which will decide at a cabinet meeting today whether it will go ahead with the planned lay-off of 1,600 people. Hanging over the entire stutahion is the threat that other public service groups will yoin the BCGEU strikers over the next two weeks.
