THE ABILITY TO SAY ‘NO’

NEW YORK (UPI) - The
importance of orgasms to
American women has been
overrated, married men do
get a “seven-year itch” and
higher education has a
negative effect on the sex
lives of men, a magazine
survey has concluded.

In its October edition,
Redbook magazine said its
readers’ survey also found

an orgasm every time or
almost every time they had
sex, but it also found that
“for almost 70 per cent of the
women, not having an
orgasm was: ‘Okay; it’s no
big thing.” At most, they felt

Dr. Philip Sarrel and his
wife Lorna, codirectors of
the Sex Counselling Program
at Yale University and
contributing editors of
Redbook, said, “We don't
think these findings mean
that orgasm is irrelevant, it
certainly isn't. But clearly,
sexual satisfaction is not just
a matter of five or ten
seconds of physiologic
response.”

The Sarrels said they
“were delighted to find new
evidence that the im-
portance of orgasm to 4
woman’s sexual satisfaction
has been grossly overrated.

Dance Theatre, a return by
popular demand of The
Women of ~ Margaret
Laurence, a theatre series
with plays such as Private
Lives, Beyond the Fringe,
Rock and Roll, programs for
children and adults in the
community just to mention a
few, the need for a solid
financial footing becomes
intense, especially with
grants that don't cover all
expenses.

Because of the success of
Presentation House, a
financial committee under
the direction of Derek In-
man and aided by Aiderman
Frank Marcino of North Van
City are launching a major
effort set for the end of Sep-
tember to put the organi-
zation in a stable position.

And to that end, perhaps
the financial committee
could also be called the
building committee. For that
is the direction of the moncy
drive. To build a wall A

foyer of Presentation House
with each brick displaying
the plaque and the name of
the donor.

Of course, it was pointed
out that families or indi-
viduals and groups can also
take part in the program
simply by contacting Pre-

sentation House.
The committee and ad-
ministration feel that if

approximately $20,000 can
be raised by this means, in
addition to grants, then the
programs can continue to
grow and expand with a solid
financial base.

WELL KNOWN

Presentation House 1s
becoming well known out-
side the borders of the North
Shore. Regularly the staff
are dealing with inquines
from the rest of the countsy
and the United States.

The calibre of the
exhibits, plus the wide
outreach and programs for
the community are expand-
ing to the poimt where dis-
cussions are under way with

the North Van Rec Centre
towards an eventual tie-in of
programs and facilities.
Even with any increased
funding, the staff at the
cultural centre are not
looking for any ‘frills.” They
already have plans as to how
