Winter was assured by all three sources that the premier would not have given his endorsation prior to nomination and Bell has since reaffirmed that he was personally welcomed by the premier - as someone to stand for nomination and not necessarily as the candidate. “There has been no of- ficial endorsation,” said Bell, Tuesday. “All I had was a conversation with the premier, during which he indicated he would welcome my candidacy on the North Shore and during which he indicated he would be pleased if 1 would both be nominated and elected.” But Bell adds that he did not take this as an en- dorsation of himself as a candidate - merely that the premier considered him “suitable material” to stand for nomination. “His response was just to the effect that | was the kind of candidate he was looking for.” Mayor Bell was still sitting on the fence Tuesday as to whether he would stand for nomination, saying he had not had the opportunity to quictly go over various personal considcrations. “My agenda has kept me pretty busy.” he com- mented. “I haven't been able to consider all the points I'd like to consider and I'm still Te = marking timc.” _EVEN A THREE YEAR OLD knows you have to keep your eyes on the ball, but this young fellow also discovered there was a lot of footwork required, and when your feet are that small it means a lot of chasing after runaway balls. r.
