Empowerment aids job search

Open since April of last year, the North Shore Compass Centre
assists the unemployed with finding not only a new job but also a
sense of empowerment and self-confidence.

The Compass Centre adopted a new, cutting-edge employ-
ment program, — the Implicit Career Search ({CS) — in March.
ICS was developed by employment counsellor Steve Miller of
Nanaimo with additional inspiration gleaned from the work of Dr.
Will Schutz, the American author of such books as The Husnan

Element and Jov.
Part of a four-week career program offered through the
Compass Centre, ICS is billed as an empowerment tool that uti-
