16 — Sunday, June 21, 1998 — North Shore News Loucks to be GVTA rep NORTH Vancouver City mayor Jack Loucks will likely represent the North Shore on a soon-to-be- appointed transportation board. The Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority (GVTA) board will be officially appointed at the next meeting of the regional district board scheduled for June 26. However, it will not be a fully functioning body until April °99, At that point the GVI'A will then take control of trans- portation planning, policy, service labels, budgets and finances in the Greater Vancouver Regional District. GVRD spokesman Ginette Whitten-Day said the regional board is likely to approve the various recommendations of the municipalities. Loucks was nominated to represent the area at a meeting of representatives from the three North Shore municipalities, Lions Bay and Bowen Island recently held in North Vancouver District council chambers. x — Robert Galster FREE OL.
