north shore news MAIL B i Hey, West Vancouver, OX 5 expansion is inevitable mt i Make transportation a priority ids Dear Editor: As a resident of North Vancouver, I have sat on the sidelines and watched and lis- tened to residents of West Vancouver bicker over the expansion of Park Royal South. Hello! Expansion is happening everywhere, not just in your - community. Do you see North Vancouver residents raising a stink over the Superstore going up? No, because we are able to accept change and growth in ‘Dear Editor: our community. Think of all the communi- ties you as West Van residents drive through while commut- ing from place to place. This commute adds to traffic congestion. Since the update of Dollarton Highway, people are of the impression that it is a race track. Well, they are wrong and their days are numbered; one day they will miss a turn and will have to be pulled from Burrard Inlet. Did the residents along Dollarton Highway kick up a fuss over the upgrade, know- ing the problems that would arise? No, because change is acceptable and inevitable to North Van residents. Residents of West Jancouver, grow up and accept the fact that you are not as powerful as you seem to think you are with all the money you may have. Many young people lost the Stardust roller skating centre back in 1983 in North Van. No one stuck up for them, our youth. Lianna Martin North Vancouver There have been many complaints to the : North Shore News about BC transit service. - However, in Seymour, I believe the district is ma responsible for much of the problem. Too much development has resulted in traf- BE . fic line-ups on the Dollarton and Mc. Seymour . Parkway — the only evo roads in and out of : the area. Buscs get stuck in traffic and passengers * miss their connection at Phibbs Exchange. What good is public transit if you can't get to “ work on time? A new Land Development Program is cur- rently under review by district council of which program be shelved untif after a new Local Avea Plan review was complete, council ignored their request (except Councillors Crist and Muri) and moved the development process forward. Council also conveniently forgot thar all our schools are chock-a-block! Clearly, the district’s number one priority should be transportation, not more develop- ment. Unfortunately, none of our councillors are Seymour commuters and don’t realize th are putting our livability at risk. The publ should make Mayor Don Bell and council aware of the deteriorating situation. Call the hall at 987-7131. © 93% is slated for Seymour.
