better his time from his first
Ironman last year where he
finished 66th overall with a time
of 10:21.

Ajithough he qualified to com-
peie at Hawaii Ironman, the 34-
year-old insurance agent opted in-
stead to run the Honolulu mara-
thon for the sixth time.

“You do the marathon in a few
hours and it's over and you can
enjoy the rest of your holiday,”’
Shorter explains.

This year he has adjusted his
training to include some longer
runs and bike rides and estimates
he trains between 21 and 28 hours
each week without any days off.

Finding the time to train has
also been a challenge for Shorter;
in December he started his own
company, Addison Insurance,
which has required six-day work
weeks.

According to the Ironman
Canada entry list, the following
