were good, but the sex was

The West Vancouver Memorial
Library’s history actually began 71
years ago, when a small group of
citizens met in Mrs. Effie Field's
dry goods stcre to borrow books
from 2 smal] circulating library.

The first proposal to build a
West Vancouver library was made
in 1944; in 1948 the community of
West Vancouver chose a library as
its official war memorial.

The library cost $19,000 to
build, with the coramunity
donating much of the labor and
materials.

Since its official opening in
1950, the West Vancouver Memo-
rial library has expanded twice. It
will soon undergo a third time ex-
pansion, at a cost of $4.75 mil-
lion,

In addition to lending books,
West) Vancouver library offers
programs for children and adults,
discussion groups for the elderly,
a classical music program every
Friday. a monthly art exhibit: and
People’s Law School seminars.

The most popular books? it's
