The Lonsdale bistro
features the slightly less
wacky team of Collin Wade
and the appropriately named
Graham Kitchen. The two
joined forces to slug out a
culinary name for themselves
in the 35-seat Lonsdale loca-
tion (formerly Rita’s lunch
bar) four months ago. After
an opening few frames of
tentative restaurant chaos
from their own Bing Crosby
and Bob Hope-inspired pro-
duction ‘Road to Solvency
in the Restaurant Racket,”
Wade and Kitchen have
established a solid luncheon
business.

Armed with an above
average chef who specializes
in simple Italian cuisine, an
informal yet uptempo at-
mosphere, and arniable ser-
vice spearheaded by the at-
tentive and good-humored
Wade, Partners has all the
ammunition needed to cut a
good sized swathe into even-
ing dining.

The menu is simple; its
prices humble. Overall culi-

half litre of beaujolais
($8.25) from the -bistro’s
four red and four white
bargain-basement wine
selection (all bottles are
available. in half litre por-
tions) and ordered a side
order of Caesar Salad
($2.95) and a full order of
Partners’ Antipasto ($5.95),
all the while guffawing over
the endlessly amusing part-
nership of marriage.

The Caesar. was a good
easy-on-the-garlic, heavy-
on-the-crouton rendition of
the Roman classic; the an-
tipasto plate was an excellent
and liberal assortment of
Fontina and Swiss cheese,
marinated mushrooms, pro-
sciutto, salami, ham, and
black olives — for the bistro
beatnick and the waistline
watchdog, almost a meal in
itself with a basket of Part-
ners homemade Italian
bread.

‘Passing over the crepe sec-
tion (three choices all $5.95)
and the speciality pasta bar
(seven in all, linguini to
lasagna, half orders $4.95,
full orders $6.95), we tackled
instead a pair of veal dishes:
