for bar attack

A MAN who was attacked without provocation

for medical treatment, loss

in a North Vancouver bar has been awarded
almost $2,080) under the Criminal Injury Com-

pensation plan.

The unidentified man suf-
fered a broken jaw and
multiple contusions to his
face when he was struck
repeatedly wih a beer mug
by a male assailant.

The plan, administered by
the Workers Compensation
Board, allows for compensa-
tion for injuries suffered as
the result of a criminal ac-

through the Ministry of the
Attorney-General.

Under the Criminal Com-
pensation Act, the board has
the authority to pay com-

there is no criminal prosecu-

soon as possible.

He was awarded $1,903
for his injuries.

The award was one of 94
made under the program in
November.

Apphcation forms are
available at any office of the
WCB and the money paid
victims to compensate them
