’ Library users in West
Vancouver are now using
their new automated library
cards. The computerized
control system will go into
operation in January. With
the system it will be easier to
reserve a book, to borrow or

renew books, and to find out
if you have any items
overdue. The system also
computes overdue fines - for

those forgetful readers who '

incur them - and ‘remem-
bers’ the fine until it can be
paid.

With the new system, new
borrowing policies and
charges will go into effect in
the West ‘Vancouver
Memorial Library. Overdue
fines go up: 10¢ per day to a

_maximum of $2.00 per item.

For children’s items, the

overdue fines will be 5¢ per

‘day per item to a maximum

of $1.00 per item.

The reserve charge will
increase to 50¢ in order to
cover higher postal rates.
