how does it affect you and
me? Although none of the

so, my guess is that nearly
everyone steals from hotels.

The first thing to go is ash-
trays. Some of. the hotels
have stopped’ printing the
name of the hotel on the
china in the hope of
deterring souvenir hunters.
It seems to be working.

Towels disappear by the
thousands. I'm so paranoic
in hotels that I count the
damn things and if I think
we're shorted, I call house-
keeping and complain.

pay them. It makes me damn
good and mad to think that
someone is enjoying a
chesterfield suite at my
expense.

On the other hand, some
weird and wonderful things
get left behind by guests.

Every hotel maintains a
lost and found collection
where goods are noted in a
book with the date, room
number and other par-
ticulars. Some of the
notations leave a lot to the
imagination, such as “love
kit” and “inflatable body”.

That last is a story in itself!
You've all heard of the
inflatable female dummies,
complete with all the
anatomical details? A while
ago, the chambermaid in a
large hotel turned in a
deflated dummy.

Some wag in the
engineering department
inflated it and, low and
behold, it was MALE -
complete with all ap-
pendages. After that, the
employee re-inflated the
thing with hydrogen or
helium or some such. stuff
and the “unclaimed man”
floated merrily about the
ceiling of the engineering
department for weeks -
never claimed by either of
the two women: who had
rented the room. I wonder
why?
