Police had to deal with
everything from stolen
beehives to vandalism with a
backhoe.

A police spokesman said
the department, had to deal
with more than 100 calls a
night on Friday and Saturday
nights.

There were several thefts.

Sometime between Friday
night and early Saturday
morning, three beehives
were stolen from a _ con-
verted cattle trailer about
one kilometre up Cypress
Bowl road.

The spokesman said each
of the hives contained
60,000-70,000 bees.

Early Friday morning, a
super eight projector and
four pornographic films
were stolen from a Carport in
the Woodgreen area.

The spokesman said the
projector and films were left
inthe car after a stag party.

At about 3 a.m. on Sunday
morning a homeowner in the
British Properties was woken
by noises in his front yard.

Other thefts bordered on
pure vandalism.

Sometime on the weekend
someone stole all the let-
tering from the Big O Tire
store on Marine Drive.

And the spokesman said
there was also a report that
all the municipal signs in
Lighthouse Park had been
stolen.

There were also several
incidents of pure vandalism.

A 22-year-old man was
taken into custody late
Sunday afternoon = after
approximately $400 worth of

damage was done to a road
in the Caulfeild area by a
backhoe. .

Another backhoe parked
at 22nd Street and Bellevue
Avenue. had. one. of its
windows shot out..over the
weekend.

And there were five in-
cidents of cars parked on
roadways in the British
Properties Friday night that
had their windows knocked
out by a baseball bat.

In addition to these
somewhat. peculiar in-
cidents, the-spokesman said
the police were also called to
six break-ins from houses
and a number of complaints
about noisy parties and
stereos.

Alderman ‘muzzled’

North Vancouver District
Alderman Peter Powell has
requested a report on the
progress of negotiations for a
new Seymour River crossing
within three weeks.

“Fve been muzzled now
for 18 months,” he said.
