Good nutritional meals can be both convenient and creative. : Because hot dogs offer versatility as a main meal meat, Council home economists have developed several new recipe ideas for serving hot dogs. HOT DOG MAC SALAD 6 medium green peppers ¥4 pound hot dogs, cul into slices ’% onion, chopped 2 tablespoons butter, or margarine or oil 1 10% oz. can tomato soup 1 80z.canniblet corn, well drained 1 7oz. package macaroni, cooked ‘4 pound sharp Cheddar cheese, grated (approximately 2 cups) Cut tops from green peppers and seed. Parboil peppers for 5 minutes. Saute onions in shortening until soft and translucent. Combine hot dogs, chopped onions, tomato soup, drained corn, macaroni and 1% cup grated cheese (reserve % cup cheese for topping). Fill green peppers with mixture and set in 9 x 9- inch casserole. Sprinkle with as appetizers. Since frankfurters (popularly called hot dogs) ~ are already cooked, they are ideal for combining with fresh fruits or vegetables and all warmed at the same temperature. To add greater interest, cut hot dog lengths into “Hot Dog Buds”. Cut hot dog into 1%-inch long pieces.
