Regional and Economic Development

Ministry’s new

Employee Investment Program is available on the North

Shore.

The program provides for the
setting up of Employee Share
Ownership Plans (ESOPs) and
Eraployee Venture Capital Cor-
poratioas (EVCCs). Through an
ESOP, employees may directly in-
vest in their employer's company.
Through an EVCC, employee

groups can pool funds to invest in
smail to medium-sized businesses.
‘The Royal Trust Cornoration
was recently appointed as the
private sector delivery agent for
the program. The North Van-
couver branch of Royal Trust and
Pro Technical insurance Services
are acting as sub-agents in North
Vanceuver. The sub-agents are
authorized to do the initial pro-
cessing of applications. The con-

TO MAKE this Christmas
brighter, Lynn Valley Centre, in
conjunction with the Salvation
Army, is featuring a gift-giving
Angel Tree. Until December 23,
shoppers cam pick up an angel tag
from the Angel! Tree located at the
mall’s centre court. Gift-givers
return their present, with suitable
age filled out on the Angel Tag,
and place the item uader the tree.
All gifts are donated to deserv-
ing children in time for Christmas.

Medi-Care Trsvel Service, ‘‘l.on-
don is a rather difficult city to get
around in a wheelchair. My objec-
tive is to make it possible to visit
the city in comfort in wheelchairs
and enjoy it as much as other
tourists.”

Merle Schooley, a Burnaby
senior confined to canes and a
wheelchair, accompanied Baldwin
to assist in assessing facilities.
While in London, the two watched
the changing of the guard in the
forecourt of Buckingham Palace.
