was called at 2:42 p.m. and
was.on scene at 3:19 p.m.,
1,500 feet off the southeast
point of Crocker Island.

A search and rescue heli-
copter was dispatched from
the Comox air force base and
the Coast Guard Cutter
Osprey joined in the search

The man’s boat, a 10-foot
car topper powered by a 9.9
horsepower outboard, hit an
object in the water, causing it
to capsize. The skipper’s chest
waders filled rapidly with
water. He was not wearing a
lifejacket or personal flotation

reported the incident. The
man was recovered from the
water, with his overturne+
vessel, and transported back
by the lifeboat to the Cates
Park launch ramp before 5:30

fundraiser. The Las Vegas theme dinner, auction and
