Season’s stress can take a toll THE North Shere Counselling Centre offers the following information on stress at Christmas time: Three factors make Christmas a porentially stress- ful time. Christmas rituals and tradi- tions increase a sense of oblig- ation and take away some indi- vidual control. The Christmas tradition is detined by specific ritwals and concepts. Opting out is as difficult as meeting every obligation. Secondly, relationships take on dominant meaning. The season carries with it the idea of family, friendship and com- munity. The “peace and good- will” lens of Christmas may not reflect how one actually feels abour some friends or family members. Thirdly, one’s sense of self is reflected in the many tasks of Christmas, Ac Christmas, dhe stresses that we deal with, or hide throughout the year, come at us with more force and intensity. We feel we are being measured. If we feel frustrated or tired, we get the sense that we are failing. These influences conspire to raise the pressure one brings to the events of the holiday season. Christmas can be a time when you think abour what is important to you. What docs the rradition bring to you? Which relationships are sound and which need nurturing? Take note of the things that have made this season stressful and make a date to examine them in February to October. 3 s ee PTE MONIS MARK ESTATE BIRKS STERLING FIATWARE 1637 Lonsdale hey $730 Marine Dr. North Yancouver West Vancouver Sonic Scope Telescope & Listening Device EXSCITING : WORLDS 925-3563 Park Royal South THE following is a brief summary of agenda items for the North Shore Municipal Council mectings.
