ACTOR Peter Breck plays tha lead role in Samuel

Samuel Fuller was an American
iconoclast who managed to
survive in Hollywood for sev-
eral decades making his own
movies. The films were shot in
a tabloid, pulp fiction-style
that influenced countless other
film directors including, Jean-
Lue Godard, Quentin
Tarantino and Hong Kong’s
Won Kar-Wai.

The films were marketed to
theatres operating, in the mar-
gins of the movie industry.
When Shock Corridor was
released one newspaper critic
wrote: “It is not only outright
trash, but stands alone as one
of the most vicious and irre-
sponsible pieces of film-making
that the screen has given us in
Tecent years.”
