Lions Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge similar to San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge and serves as an icon for the area. Canada’s national newspaper, The Globe and Mail, uses a little leon of Lions Gate Bridge to designate its Jaside B.C. column, Uerltage Society of B.C. director John Stewart called Lions Gate Bridge “the most recognizable landmark in the Vancouver area.” The Vantouver Heritage Advisary Coramittee of Vancouver says it doesn't matter what the bridge looks like, its location is what makes it a landmark, Many of the proposals being examined would change the bridge structure to 9 cable-stayed design ~- fike the Alex Fraser Bridge or the Skytrain Bridge in Surrey, Cable-stayed bridges cost less than suspension bridges (approximately 20% less), Recently Heritage B.C. resolyed: “... modifications to the bridge be designed to respect the form and appearance of the present structure.” Which bridge design do you prefer for the Lions Gate crossing?
