INHABITANTS OF the McCartney Lane condominium
complex on Mount Seymour Parkway are browned off,
burued up and bugged. For they have discovered that the
Asian Invasion isn’t restricted to Vancouver, and that Hong
Kong has a decisive voice in how they shali conduct

the spot are against it, but those in

in favor. So when the issue came

the Hong Kong folk, cast them in
favor of renting. (At the latter’s
instructions, of course.)

John Carpenter, who chaired the
AGM, tells me that 56 voting
owners were present either per-
sonally or by proxy. Of that
number, 18 proxies held by Hong
Kong were for renting, plus nine
others, for a total of 27. But since
75 per cent approval was needed to
change the rules, down the tube
the motion went.

demanding a province-wide refer-
endum on bilingualism. They want

world-wide, I can reveal that Mr.
Glenn Babb has resigned from the
South African Foreign Affairs
Department and will be running as
a Nationalist candidate in the com-
ing South African elections. (You
read it here first. Our agencies
haven’t picked it up yet, even
though the news i$ public in
Pretoria.)

If this former South African
ambassador to Canada wins, it is
likely he will be Pik Botha’s
number two, In that event he will
be even more of a thorn in Joe
Clark's side than he was when he
was here. Good.
